NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF
THE INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE (ICID)

Established in 1952, AFEID, the French National Committee of the International
Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), is a non-profit organisation.
Our Objectives :
- To promote the rational management and use of irrigation and drainage in France,
- To foster the dissemination of French techniques and know-how,
- To contribute to the international effort on technical co-operation.
Our means :
- The Technical Committee and its Working Groups, where French
professionals in irrigation and drainage develop an inter-disciplinary approach ;
- The organisation of National Workshops, usually in
co-operation with other professional associations ;
- The participation of AFEID in ICID conferences and
international congresses ;
- The dissemination of national and international information and technical publications,
such as ICID publications ;
- A privileged exchange forum.
Members of AFEID, some of them being represented within the Board of
Governors, are :
- Professional organisations in agriculture and related fields (Chambres d'Agriculture, ITCF, AGPM),
- Public and regional development companies (EDF, BRL, CACG, SCP,),
- Engineering and industrial companies (2IE International, Actaris,
BRGM, Cercle de l'Irrigation, FNCUMA, SADIMATO,
SOGREAH, Suez - Ondeo),
- Basic and applied research institutes (Cemagref, Cirad, INRA).
- Graduate colleges and training institutions (EIER, ENGEES,
AgroParisTech-ENGREF,
CNEARC, OIEau,
SupAgro)
- River basin agencies (Water agencies,
SMEAG)
- Ministries interested in AFEID activities, as observers (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Land Development and Environment,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs),
- Professional associations and NGOs (ADEPTA,
AFNOR,
ARID,
ASTEE,
CFGB, SHF, UATI)
- Scientists, engineers, technicians and farmers, on an individual basis.
All disciplines related to irrigation and drainage are represented in AFEID, from
research (agronomy, hydrology, soil science, economics, ...) to farmer, as the end-user of
technology and development.
AFEID
- is member of
COFIRA
(Confédération Française d'Ingénierie Rurale et Agricole) who is the French
Representative of EurAgEng, European Level
of CIGR (International Commission of Agricultural
Engineering), and since 2007, a founder member of the
French Coordination for Water,
- sponsors since its creation
ARID, the Regional Association on
Irrigation and Drainage for West and Central Africa.
